When Jeff Madsen entered his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) event, he was barely old enough to buy a beer.
However, that didn’t stop him from steamrolling over the competition. Jeff won two No-Limit Hold ‘em events at the 2006 WSOP. He also finished third in two other events, an Omaha Hi/Lo event and a Seven-card Stud Hi/Lo event. Jeff was richly rewarded for his performance – his prize money came to a cool $1.5 millon.
Jeff’s performance is one of the most impressive achievements made by any WSOP rookie. Although it was Jeff’s first time playing in the WSOP, he managed to garner four top-three finishes in three different types of games. What he accomplished would be impressive for any poker professional – never mind for someone who’s just on summer vacation from college.
However, Jeff has said that he isn’t going to let success go to his head; he went back to college in the fall to finish his Film Theory degree, and he’s not going to going to buy anything too extravagant with his winnings. Although he thinks that he definitely deserves a new car.
We agree – and we can’t wait to see what this young gun of poker will bring to the Pro-Am Poker Equalizer.
